One of the most recognizable names in world football, Dynamo Moscow, have concluded a two-week training break at La Cala Resort in Mijas, Malaga.
Dynamo Moscow is the oldest Russian football club and the only one which has always played in the top tier of the Russian/Soviet league. Dynamo’s greatest achievement in Europe to date was in the 1972 UEFA Cup Winners Cup. They got to the final at the Nou Camp in Barcelona where they lost to Scottish side Rangers 3-2.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the club has chosen to prepare for the coming season in La Cala. Spokesman Konstantin Alexeev says: “La Cala is a quiet location for us. We are the only team at the complex and the pitch is near the hotel. We are also close to Malaga and Marbella, where there are other teams, so we can play friendly matches. We are very happy with all the facilities in the resort. In spite of all the rain in recent weeks, the pitch is in very good condition. All the other facilities are also at a very high level. Right now it is at freezing point in Moscow, so we are pleased to be able to train in warmer weather.”
Dynamo’s season starts on March 14th with a derby against Spartak Moscow. The current squad includes players from six countries: Poland, Moldova, Argentina, Romania, Australia and Ukraine. Konstantin Alexeev confirmed that the club plans to return to La Cala next year.
Teams from Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Ukraine also used the resort’s training facilities this mid-season. All singled out the excellent condition and exclusive use of the pitch, the range of resort facilities, the professional and experienced staff, the location near Malaga international airport and the climate as the main reasons for choosing La Cala Resort.
La Cala Resort, the largest golf complex in Spain, is an exclusive residential and recreational estate of approximately 1,000 acres (4 million square metres), situated between the Sierra de Mijas Natural Park and the Mediterranean. Although located in a tranquil area, the resort is only 20 minutes from Marbella and 30 minutes from Malaga Airport. |
