At least 39 people have died in the May holidays, five less than last year

SPAIN A total of 39 people died on Spanish roads in 32 fatal accidents that occurred along the May holidays, from 15 hours of last Wednesday until 24 hours yesterday, Sunday May 4, which implies three fatalities less than last year may holidays,that took one more day, informed the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).Of the 32 fatalities, eight are for motorcycles, which have killed eight people. Besides the 39 dead, 18 people were also seriously injured and 11 with minor injuries.
The two most serious accidents occurred last Friday, May 2, in Seville with four youths dead aged between 18 and 21 years in a frontal collision of a tourism against a truck. The second one took place on Saturday, May 3,in Cordoba killing 3 people of 12, 25 and 37 years old, also by a frontal collision between two cars. View More »

Prison for the young driver arrested in connection to bus accident

MALAGA The Torremolinos magistrate No. 1 reported detention without bail for the driver of the car arrested in relation to the Saturday 19th bus accident in the motorway between the towns of Torremolinos and Benalmadena, where nine people died,confirmed to Europa Press judicial sources The examining magistrate called the driver to testify last wednesday once he could leave the hospital in Malaga where he was admitted since the accident, and intervened last week for a neck injury. Health urges citizens to donate blood in Cadiz, Seville and Malaga

The Ministry of Health today appealed for people to come to donate blood, especially in the provinces of Cadiz, Seville and Malaga, where the stored blood units have fallen "significantly" , the department that Maria Jesus Montero leads said today.
In particular, Health urged the public to come to donate blood to mobile blood extraction teams located in the province of Malaga, due to reserves declining caused with assistance offered after the accident occurred recently with several victims in the town of Benalmadena.

SPAIN A bomb has exploded near offices of Spain's ruling Socialist party in the northern town of Elgoibar.The blast, early on Sunday morning, caused damage but no injuries due to a warning call made in the name of Eta, the Basque separatist group.The explosion occurred at 3:25am (0125 GMT) about an hour after a man called the regional traffic department saying that the bomb would go off at 3:30am in the Basque town, police said.Police found a suspicious package and cordoned off streets and evacuated residents.The blast destroyed the doors of the office and caused significant damage to the... SPAIN,MALAGA Nine Finnish tourists are known to have died in a bus crash on Saturday evening in the vicinity of Malaga on the Spanish Costa del Sol. Details are still coming in, but initial reports from police and rescue officials at the scene said that the death toll may well rise even higher.The coach, carrying 49 Finnish tourists on their way to Malaga Airport for their return flight to Helsinki, was apparently in collision with a 4x4 vehicle on the A7 highway close to Benalmádena, and rolled onto its roof after impact, trapping many of the passengers inside.

MALAGA,BENALMADENA The people hurt in the bus accident registered in the AP-7 passing Benalmádena (Malaga), apparently of Finnish origin, have been transferred to different hospitals from the province, sources of the Service of 112 Emergencies Andalusia informed . One of the wounded is a boy, that he was transferred to the Infantile Maternal Hospital of Malaga. SPAIN Super Aguri could be forced to pull out of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona due to a funding crisis. Aguri Suzuki has revealed he is "forced to consider the future" of his Formula One team after a potential investor pulled the plug on a multi-million pound deal.
